Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc has entered into plans to reward the best scores of the Unified Tertiary Enrollment Exam 2020 (UTME) through its scholarship program for 2021/2022.

The Stanbic IBTC scholarship program is in its second year and aims to encourage hard work and academic excellence among Nigerian undergraduates. Students who have participated in UTME 2021/2022 and have been admitted to one of the higher education institutions in the country can apply.

The scholarship program, which is valued at N 400,000, is structured to cover students’ academic expenses for a period of four years and will be paid to students in increments of N 100,000 per academic session.

Disbursements from the second year will depend on maintaining a minimum of upper second class and good conduct of the beneficiary student as referenced by the university.

Stanbic IBTC Holdings Managing Director Dr Demola Sogunle said: “The financial institution recognizes and appreciates the importance of education and its impact on the lives of young Nigerians.

He said the cabinet will continue to support the dreams and aspirations of young people through its various educational programs.

“Education plays a vital role in the development of society as it empowers and encourages young Nigerians to prepare for the future while addressing current challenges. This is an important recipe for the growth and development of any organization or nation, thus forming the rationale for implementing the Stanbic IBTC scholarship program, ”he said.

He pointed out that Stanbic IBTC has continued to demonstrate that education is one of the pillars of its corporate social investment (CSI) initiatives and has reflected this position in its various activities.

“Over the years, we have demonstrated our commitment to supporting Nigeria’s future leaders through various plans. We are determined in this journey to allow our young people to showcase their potential and their innate talents. The Stanbic IBTC Fellowship Program, now in its second year, is a reaffirmation of our commitment to realize the dreams and educational aspirations of the Nigerian child, ”said Sogunle.

Selection criteria include a minimum score of 250 at UTME 2021 and a letter of admission to a Nigerian university issued by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board or the university. Only 100 candidates will be offered the scholarship.
